Hi!

My name is Mykaila Reynen, I am an aspiring Product Designer from Minneapolis, MN.

I consider myself as a creative product and concept designer with interests in the following multi-disciplinary categories: medical devices, fashion, shoe ware, accessories, and furniture. As a fourth year student in the School of Product Design at the University of Minnesota, the past three years of school have been in preparation for my future design career. My position and bias as a design student, from a multicultural background, with intersecting interests in the medical field enables a stronger ability to empathize with others and widen my perspective in conducting research in contrast to other designers in the Midwest.
As a student pursuing a new design career journey, I have about 2 years of experience of communicating with other design professionals. As of the Summer of 2024, I have had the opportunity to participate in an internship program with a local company: Purrniture on their UI/UX and industrial design team. At Purrniture I had designed AR features and capabilities for the website and other pet concepts. Priding myself with my involvement in the design community within the University of Minnesota, I also have 2 years of experience as a Treasurer on the executive board on the Product Design Minnesota Club board. Originally at the University of Minnesota as a first year, I had pursued a degree in healthcare. Dedicating years of my life to volunteering at Hospitals, providing care in a nursing home, scheduling for cancer patients at M Health Fairview’s Clinic and Surgery Center in Minneapolis, earning certification as an Emergency Medical Technician in Wisconsin at the age of 17, and studying multiple rigorous biological and physiological courses in my academic career. These experiences have given me ample understanding of the healthcare system biases and pitfalls.
